Southeast Bozeman Elk Herd
The Resident Southeast Bozeman, Montana Elk Herd grazes in the Mount Ellis area during spring of 2007.
The Mount Ellis elk herd descends from the higher elevations in the winter, and in the southwest Montana spring the Mount Ellis elk herd, one of the Gallatin County elk herds, calves and enjoys grazing the spring grasses southeast of Bozeman, Montana.
Later in the summer these shy, grand Montana ungulates once again ascend to the higher elevations to escape elk predators, graze the land, and combat the summer temperatures.
